Tin Lined Copper Frying Pan
Rocky Hill Forge hand-hammered, hand-crafted tinned copper frying pans are for those who simply need the best. When I couldn’t find the pan of my dreams in any shop or Website, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I went through catalogs and Websites from about 20 makers ranging from antique to contemporary. Then, I began to put together a list of the characteristics I liked most in a frying pan.
Each frying pan in the Rocky Hill Forge tinned copper pan collection has those characteristics. A collaborative effort between our forge (which hand-crafts every pan), Donn Fresnard at North Coast Copper Cookware, who creates and hand-applies our signature tin coating, and members of the tinned copper cookware communities on specialized forums such as r/coppercookware.
Tin-lined copper pans are the ultimate cookware. They’re naturally non-stick, they heat quickly and evenly, and they are stunningly beautiful. Made specifically for gas stoves, each of our tinned copper pans is individually crafted, using a hammer and anvil — we never use a lathe.
The tinning is never electroplated, but rather is hand-wiped. The clearly defined brush marks on the dense, evenly-heating naturally non-stick tin surface testify to the quality of the thick, hand-wiped tin lining.
Unlike most copper cookware on the market, for ease of maintenance Rocky Hill Forge pans are fitted with 304-stainless steel handles. The attachment point of the handle is extra-wide to provide stable, long-lasting support for the pan. We hand-craft each rivet from pure 5mm copper.
This pan is best suited for use on gas stoves for sautéing vegetables or proteins.
